Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Daily prayer for June 20

It is believed that devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus began in the 11th century, but the devotion did not spread until St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a French nun, began receiving multiple apparitions of Jesus from 1673 onwards. On December 27, 1673, Jesus appeared to Margaret Mary as she knelt before the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus spoke to her of his great love for humanity and expressed his desire that she make his great love known to all. Saint Margaret wrote that Jesus revealed to her the wonders for those who honor His Sacred Heart. And for all these marvels, in the daily prayer for June 20, we ask God for an act of mercy so that inner healing may shine in us.

Daily Devotion for June, 20.

During the second apparition of Jesus in 1674, he revealed his Divine Heart to Margaret Mary, and as Margaret Mary described it, "he presented it to me on a throne of flame, more resplendent than a sun, transparent as glass, with this adorable wound". And he was surrounded by a crown of thorns, which meant the punctures made in him by our sins, and a cross on top of it, which meant that from the first instant of his incarnation... the cross was implanted in him and from the first moment it was filled with all the pain caused by the humiliations, poverty, pain and contempt that his sacred humanity was going to endure throughout his life and during his sacred passion".

Jesus continued to appear to Saint Margaret Alacoque and to make revelations to her until 1675. It was not until 1856 that Pope Pius IX decreed that the feast should be regularly celebrated throughout the world. Through the daily devotion for June 20, we surrender our being and are filled with God´s inner healing.

Daily Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

For the daily prayer for June 20, we let go of our burdens and let ourselves be appeased by that loving Heart which wants to bring us inner healing.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, today is a new day, you offer me a chance for a new beginning. No longer does it matter what mistakes or failures yesterday left. It is the best day to rejoice because you have wanted to make me feel your powerful Presence in my life. I thank you Lord for a new opportunity to love, to serve and to be everything you want me to be.

You know every part of me, from head to toe. You know my thoughts, sufferings and joys. You know even the thoughts conceived in my heart before I even uttered any of them. Such is your heart, it burns with desire to merge with mine.

You are the God who never fails, the owner of life and of my personal history, the God who heals and restores, and the one who has the last word on the destiny of each one of us. But you respect my space, my free will. And that is why I have to make an effort to present myself to you dressed in the good deeds of my life.

Today, I wish to go into the depths of your heart, to implore you to give me that divine healing. There are so many things that I do not understand, many things that happen to me and I do not find meaning in them. But I am sure that, with a touch of your Presence, you can give me back my security

I don´t always know what your will is in my life, Lord, especially in these moments of crisis like this. But I abandon myself to You, I put my hope in Your promises. I only incline my heart towards You hoping that your inflamed heart will take over mine and I start its restoration process.

I want to spend every day of my life loving You, and for this I need to be healthy, body and soul. I absolutely believe that you have the power to heal. You have proven this before and you continue to do so today through your wonderful miracles.

Even when my faith is weak, that is enough for you to intervene, for your love is greater than my failures, your forgiveness is greater than my sins, your love for me love is so strong that your Sacred Heart keeps that wound open so that I may take refuge completely within Him.

I can feel that you already have my heart and my life in your hands Lord. You work day and night like the potter, making, unmaking, shaping, rebuilding, making his best work of art. I trust that everything you do is good.

O Sacred Heart of my soul, perform in me a profound cleansing and strengthening, a renewal of all that I am. Because all that I am is yours. Prevent my feet from stumbling and my mind from wandering into distractions that could rob me of the precious time and strength of the most important things you´ve designed for me.

Grant me, O Sacred Heart of Love, that all the days of my life may be filled with the wonder of your love. I know that life is short and fleeting, Lord, so I want to live today as if it were the first or the last day of my life, giving thanks for every good and perfect gift that, in your immense goodness, you have wanted to give me. Amen.
