The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a devotion that began in the 12th century and gained popularity after Jesus appeared to Saint Margaret Mary of Alacoque in the 1670s, revealing to her the image of his Sacred Heart wrapped in a Crown of Thorns. It is a month dedicated to meditation and contemplation of the wonderful mystery of the Heart of Jesus from which all the eternal love of God flows for each person. Let us contemplate the Sacred Heart of Jesus and let ourselves be convinced of God´s passionate love for us. Daily Devotion for June, 28.

At this time in our world, torn by so much violence and suffering, we need to let our hearts be filled with the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, so that the burning flames of that passionate heart can be sent out to the world through us. Let us ask for the grace to be convinced of God´s love in us and to show that love to all those around us, to love others as Jesus has loved us.

For the daily devotion for June 28, may God help us to turn away from slander and gossip. May we be able to present ourselves clean before the Lord.

Daily Prayer for June 28.

To the Sacred Heart of Jesus...

Sacred Heart wants to bring within you a healthy and cleansing healing process. Open your heart and receive that grace. In the daily prayer for June 28, we pray for a deep cleansing of the heart to keep us away from any slander, gossip or unhealthy word that we may be tempted to utter.

Lord God, You are the source of all good, from You comes every blessing and strength that impels us to do just works and makes us better every day. I want to continue to receive this grace and for that I must cleanse my heart of my bad attitudes that I still cannot shake off.

I want you to help me curb those impulses of my tongue with which I sometimes fall into the sin of gossip and slander. I end up pronouncing improper and unhealthy words without realizing it, just because my heart is not aligned with yours.

Help me to think of the good of my neighbor and never spread lies or rumors about them. Let me always remember that my neighbor is made in your image and likeness and you love him as much as you love me. Help me to see your face reflected in them.

Help me to realize when I find myself in a situation where conversation becomes gossip or slander about someone. Let me have the courage to say, with kind words, that it is not right to talk behind someone´s back and know how to say goodbye nicely to avoid participating in this sin.

Lord Jesus, forgive me for those bad attitudes of slander that I once had and that took me away from your grace. I admit that I am responsible for bad words with which I have damaged my neighbor´s reputation. Forgive me, Lord, for having allowed the spirit of lies to dwell in me at certain times and to use my mouth in this manner, to sow hatred, tares, division.

Help me to remain silent when the occasion calls for it, knowing that each of my words will have repercussions in time or for all eternity. May I maintain control over my tongue and never give it free rein, causing slander or discredit in others.

For all those times when I have not been able to control my words and have failed in charity, forgive me Lord. Grant that I may never fall into that sin again. I renounce right now any contact with gossip and slander. I renounce the spirit of lies and deceit that wants to provoke me to fall into this sin.

I entrust myself to your power Lord, I put on your armor. I confess that I will no longer take part in the sin of slander and I will see others as your children, whom you also want to overcome. I refuse to be part of evil and to harm my brothers. In your Name Jesus, so be it.

So many things I have asked of You, O Sacred Heart of Jesus, but this I implore of You, I ask it earnestly. Take it, place it in your open Heart, present it to the Father wrapped in your precious blood. Let it no longer be my prayer, but yours. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you. I know I won´t be disappointed. Amen.
