Daily prayer for july 28.
Lord God, by your great love, you have given me the ability to decide on my happiness, to fight my battles and to triumph. My hope is placed in You. I give You all my abilities so that I can face every situation with the certainty that I can achieve everything with Your support. Amen.
Reading for tuesday. Daily gospel
Jeremiah 14:17-22.
The Lord said to me: Say this word to the people: "Tears flood my eyes night and day, unceasingly, since a crushing blow falls on the daughter of my people, a most grievous injury. If I go into the countryside, there lie men killed by the sword; if I go into the city, I see people sick with hunger; even prophets and priests plough the land: they are at their wit´s end." "Have you rejected Judah altogether? Does your very soul revolt at Zion? Why have you struck us down without hope of cure? We were hoping for peace, no good came of it! For the moment of cure, nothing but terror! Lord, we do confess our wickedness and our fathers´ guilt: we have indeed sinned against you. For your name´s sake do not reject us, do not dishonour the throne of your glory. Remember us; do not break your covenant with us. Can any of the pagan Nothings make it rain? Can the heavens produce showers? No, it is you, Lord. O our God, you are our hope, since it is you who do all this."
Daily Psalm for tuesday.
Psalm 78(79):8-9,11,1
"Rescue us, O Lord, for the glory of your name." (R).
Do not hold the guilt of our fathers against us. Let your compassion hasten to meet us; we are left in the depths of distress. (R).
O God our saviour, come to our help. Come for the sake of the glory of your name. O Lord our God, forgive us our sins; rescue us for the sake of your name. (R).
Let the groans of the prisoners come before you; let your strong arm reprieve those condemned to die. But we, your people, the flock of your pasture, will give you thanks for ever and ever. We will tell your praise from age to age. (R).
Daily Gospel Acclamation.
"Alleluia, alleluia! The word of the Lord remains for ever: What is this word? It is the Good News that has been brought to you. Alleluia!" (Cfr. 1 Peter 1:25)
Daily Gospel for july 28. Matthew 13:36-43.
Daily Gospel reading for tuesday, july 28 (Explanation of the parable of the tares): "At that time, Leaving the crowds, Jesus went to the house; and his disciples came to him and said, "Explain the parable about the darnel in the field to us." He said in reply, "The sower of the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world; the good seed is the subjects of the kingdom; the darnel, the subjects of the evil one; the enemy who sowed them, the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; the reapers are the angels. Well then, just as the darnel is gathered up and burnt in the fire, so it will be at the end of time. The Son of Man will send his angels and they will gather out of his kingdom all things that provoke offences and all who do evil, and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth. Then the virtuous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Listen, anyone who has ears!".
Daily Gospel reflection by Pope Francis.
"Beware of sowing discord and division and speaking to the detriment of others."
It will do us good to ask ourselves: Do I sow peace? For example, with my tongue, do I sow peace or do I sow tares? How many times have we heard a person say, "But he has a serpent´s tongue," because he always does what the serpent did with Adam and Eve, he has destroyed peace.
And this is an evil, this is a sickness in our Church: to sow division, to sow hatred, not to sow peace.
In the reading of the daily Gospel, it is good for us that every day we ask ourselves this question: "Did I sow peace today or did I sow tares? But, sometimes, we have to say things, because this one and that one. With this attitude, what are you sowing? Christians, therefore, are called to be like Jesus, who came to us to pacify and reconcile.
If a person, during his life, does nothing but reconcile and pacify, he can be canonized: that person is a saint. But, we must grow in this, we must be converted: never a word that is to divide, never. Never a word that brings war, small wars, never gossip.
I think: what is gossip? Eh, nothing, to say a little word against another or to tell a story: he did this No! To say gossip is terrorism because he who does it is like a terrorist who throws a bomb and goes away, destroys: with the language he destroys, he does not make peace. But he´s alive, isn´t he? He´s not a suicide bomber, no, no, he takes good care of himself.
Every time I say something that means sowing discord and division and speaking ill of the other, I bite my tongue!
I assure you, huh? That if you do this exercise of biting your tongue instead of sowing tares, the first times your tongue will swell up, hurt, because the devil helps us in this because it is his job, his trade: to divide. (Daily Gospel reflection. Saint Martha, April 9, 2015).
Daily Gospel Prayer for july 28.
God of love, touch my heart and train me to recognize your presence in my life. I want to correspond to you as you deserve, but because of complicated circumstances, I weaken and lose faith. Come and draw close to me, enter my soul and heal it so that my faith may burn with every beat of your Heart. Make me see my faults, errors and bad desires so that I may despise them and correct myself.
I come to you in my need to ask for protection from all evil. Guide my mind and heart so that I can always make decisions based on compassion. Amen. (Healing with prayer daily gospel)
The Pope´s daily quotation.
"Prophecy is born when we allow ourselves to be provoked by God, not when we manage our own tranquility and keep everything under control. (Pope Francis, 7.22.2020)
