Daily Gospel for November 27. Luke 21,29-33.
Daily readings Friday, Gospel for November 27 (The parable of the fig tree): At that time, Jesus told his disciples a parable: "Think of the fig tree and indeed every tree. As soon as you see them bud, you know that summer is now near. So with you when you see these things happening: know that the kingdom of God is near. I tell you solemnly, before this generation has passed away all will have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.". (The daily readings and the Holy Gospel, on this page, are from the Jerusalem Bible)
Daily Readings reflection, by Pope Francis.
"Pope Francis: On his return, Jesus will come as lightning."
In the daily Readings, we observe that the Kingdom of God is silent, it grows within. It is made to grow by the Holy Spirit with our availability, in our land, which we must prepare. Then, also for the Kingdom, the time will come for the manifestation of the force, but it will be only at the end of time.
The day that will make rumour, it will be like lightning, sparkling, that slips from one side of the sky to the other. So shall be the Son of Man in his day, the day that shall make rumor.
And when one thinks of the perseverance of so many Christians, who carry on with their family, men and women, who take care of their children, look after their grandparents and reach the end of the month with only half a euro, but pray. There is the Kingdom of God, hidden, in that holiness of daily life, that holiness of every day. Because the Kingdom of God is not far from us, it is close! This is one of its characteristics: closeness of every day.
Even when describing his coming in a manifestation of glory and power, Jesus immediately adds that first he must suffer much and be rejected by this generation. This means that even suffering, the cross, the daily cross of life, the cross of work, of the family, of carrying things out well, this little daily cross is part of the Kingdom of God.
Let us ask the Lord for the grace to take care of the Kingdom of God that is within us through prayer, adoration and the service of charity, silently. (Daily Readings reflection, Saint Martha, November 15, 2014.).
Daily Prayer Friday, for Gospel.
Lord, You invite me to maintain hope and to wait confidently for the hour of Your arrival, in which You bring me total liberation. I want to abandon myself to your love, to transmit to the world your values and the hope of your Kingdom. Far from frightening me on the day you reveal yourself, you encourage me because I know that the hour of my meeting with you is drawing near. May nothing and no one divert me from this path you have pointed out to me. Amen. (Healing with the serenity prayer for daily readings and Holy Gospel)
