Father of goodness, come and open up paths of hope for me. I trust that at this moment you are pouring out blessings on me and on all who are in any way involved in my life or who cross my path. I will not be disappointed if I put my hope in you. There is no regret that I do not bring a response or a teaching from you. I trust your promises. Amen.

Readings for Wednesday.

First Reading for daily Gospel: Reading from the Book of Isaiah 40:25-31: "Those who in God regain strength and grow wings like eagles".

To whom could you liken me and who could be my equal?’ says the Holy One. Lift your eyes and look. Who made these stars if not he who drills them like an army, calling each one by name? So mighty is his power, so great his strength, that not one fails to answer. How can you say, Jacob, how can you insist, Israel, "My destiny is hidden from the Lord, my rights are ignored by my God"? Did you not know? Had you not heard? The Lord is an everlasting God, he created the boundaries of the earth. He does not grow tired or weary, his understanding is beyond fathoming. He gives strength to the wearied, he strengthens the powerless. Young men may grow tired and weary, youths may stumble, but those who hope in the Lord renew their strength, they put out wings like eagles. They run and do not grow weary, walk and never tire.

Daily Psalm for Wednesday.

Daily reading from Psalm 102(103):1-4,8,10: "My soul, give thanks to the Lord." (R).

  • My soul, give thanks to the Lord all my being, bless his holy name. My soul, give thanks to the Lord and never forget all his blessings. (R).
  • My soul, give thanks to the Lord. It is he who forgives all your guilt, who heals every one of your ills, who redeems your life from the grave, who crowns you with love and compassion. (R).
  • My soul, give thanks to the Lord. The Lord is compassion and love, slow to anger and rich in mercy. He does not treat us according to our sins nor repay us according to our faults. (R).

Daily Gospel for December 9. Matthew 11:28-30.

Daily readings Wednesday, Gospel for December 9 (Jesus is meek and humble of heart, let us go to Him): At that time, Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.". (The catholic daily readings and the Holy Gospel, on this page, are from the Jerusalem Bible)

Daily Readings reflection, by Pope Francis.

"Pope Francis: Jesus promises relief and comfort"

From  daily Reading Jesus tells us, "Come to me. Jesus´ invitation is for everyone. But especially for those who suffer most. Jesus promises to give relief to all, but he also gives us an invitation, which is like a commandment: "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart.

The "yoke" of the Lord consists in carrying the weight of others with brotherly love. Once we have received the relief and consolation of Christ, we are called in turn to become rest and consolation for our brothers, with a meek and humble attitude, in imitation of the Master.

The meekness and humility of heart that Jesus says in the daily reading, help us not only to carry the weight of others, but also to not burden them with our personal views, and our judgments, our criticism or our indifference.

Let us invoke Mary Most Holy, who welcomes under her mantle all those who are tired and burdened, so that through an enlightened faith, witnessed in life, we may be a relief to all those who are in need of help, tenderness, and hope. (Daily Readings reflection, Saint Martha, July 13, 2014).

Daily Prayer Wednesday, for Gospel.

Lord, there are so many of my weaknesses and so many problems, that I feel I am losing the strength to continue. I turn to you, as a wounded servant, to bring healing to my life, to help me rest in your Sacred Heart and never give up. Soothe me and help me to remain strong to continue on to the victory that awaits me at your side. I loved. (Healing with the serenity prayer for daily readings and Holy Gospel)

The Pope´s daily quotation.

We need to live the city from a look of faith that discovers that God lives in its houses, in its streets, in its squares. This presence must be discovered, unveiled. God is not hidden from those who seek him with a sincere heart". Pope Francis.

Serenity prayer for Wednesday.

You can meditate now with the serenity prayer for Wednesday, December 9, 2020. May the Lord always grant us serenity and peace.

I am convinced that God speaks to us in mysterious ways, through difficult situations or problematic people. Perhaps God wants to ask you this question in your heart: "Do you think that I am not capable of seeing your affliction, of seeing all your burdens and of rescuing and freeing you at a precise moment? Soon I will give you your deliverance, your healing, all your answers, just trust, love and leave behind the grudge that keeps you from me". Perhaps, God wants you to know that. Peace and goodness.
