I recently had the distinct honor of coordinating a major conference focusing on the theme of Mary's crucial role in the ultimate defeat of Satan. The dedicated priests and laypeople actively serving in the Church's vital ministry of healing, deliverance, and exorcism were the primary attendees.

One of the distinguished speakers, a monsignor, gave a brilliant conference on the absolute relevance of the message of Fatima for our current, turbulent era. During a compelling PowerPoint presentation, the iconic image of the three little children of Fatima was shown on the screen, and the monsignor boldly declared:

"Here is Mary's deliverance team!"

His insightful comment struck me as a profoundly deep lesson regarding the message of Fatima in direct relation to the armor of God (Ephesians 6). Jesus Christ is the principal Exorcist, and He divinely commissions the Virgin Mary to powerfully proclaim His absolute victory through her unfathomable love and perfect virtue, which completely crushes the wicked one. We once witnessed a possessed young man who was completely and miraculously liberated solely through the powerful prayer of Mary's Magnificat found in the Gospel of Luke.

The Unbreakable Armor of God

Mary, the Holy Rosary, prayers of fierce intercession, and daily reparation are all essential parts of the armor of God. Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco were explicitly taught by Our Lady that we must pray, pray a great deal, and continuously make sacrifices for poor sinners.

Many souls tragically go to hell simply because there is absolutely no one willing to make sacrifices of prayer for them. This is a vital, urgent Marian exhortation. It is a desperate call to reparation for sinners. It focuses entirely on the eternal salvation of souls.

The immediate response of the children was truly exemplary; that is exactly how deeply concerned they were that souls would fall into hell. An unforgettable, terrifying vision of hell was granted to them. The children of Fatima formed a vital part of Mary's deliverance team because they actively interceded against the dark powers of hell that constantly seek to drag souls into the terrifying abyss of eternal suffering.

Yes, through personal sacrifice, constant prayers of intercession, and bodily reparation, Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco formed an elite part of Mary's deliverance team; could those of us who faithfully do the same also form a part of Mary's deliverance team today? Some may naturally resist the uncomfortable thought of spiritual warfare. It is undoubtedly unpleasant, but it is undeniably real.

To falsely deny or foolishly detach oneself from the harsh reality of spiritual warfare is utterly useless and actually makes one far more spiritually vulnerable. The sacred work of saving souls in direct cooperation with God's perfect plan, the Gospel, is the fundamental work of the entire Church. Living sacramentally united to Christ and His Holy Church empowers us to be an active part of the deliverance team of Jesus and Mary. Our sincere "yes" to God is a definitive "yes" to becoming brave soldiers of Christ.

The apparitions of Fatima starkly remind us of the terrifying reality of hell, the ultimate consequence of unrepentant sin, and the tragic rejection of God. The urgent message of Fatima is as highly relevant today as it ever was.

The spiritual arsenal lovingly entrusted to Catholics is infinitely more powerful than any of the demonic tactics of destruction and spiritual death.

A third of the fallen angels, Satan and his wicked cohorts, are causing massive havoc in our modern world today, but we must never attribute to the dark powers of darkness more credit than is strictly due.

As beloved children of the Light, our heavenly weaponry of Light is far more powerful than we can ever fully comprehend. Evil spirits visibly cower before Our Lady, the Holy Eucharist, the holy angels and saints, and the powerful prayer of the Holy Rosary. These are all the fundamental components of the message of Fatima.

Fatima: The Living Marian Monstrance

Father Donald Calloway, in his magnificent new Marian masterpiece, Champions of the Rosary, beautifully writes:

"When Sister Lucia became a cloistered nun, she was able to enter into a more devout and intense Eucharistic life. Sister Lucia saw Mary as the very first monstrance who revealed Jesus to the nations. In her profound writings, Sister Lucia emphasized that Mary is also the living tabernacle of the real presence of Jesus Christ. The word 'monstrance' comes directly from the Latin 'monstrare,' which means 'to show'. The entire magnificent work of our redemption began in the Immaculate Heart of Mary."

The Marian apparitions of Fatima are a stunning revelation of Christ's incarnational love and His boundless mercy. Mary is directly sent from heaven. She does not come of her own free will alone, but rather she appears thanks to the perfect divine will. She always comes specifically as the bearer of Christ.

The Holy Eucharist is the incarnational love of God—the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ. The entire message of Our Lady of Fatima is strictly about the eternal salvation of souls. The urgent call is to true faith, to the Holy Eucharist, to constant prayer, to bodily reparation, to unyielding hope, and to transforming love.

In profound union with Christ and His Holy Church, the message of Fatima intimately invites and constantly reminds us to joyfully offer ourselves as willing victims of incarnational love, victims of loving expiation for the deep conversion of all humanity. We must become incarnational love, faithful bearers of Christ even to those who bitterly contradict us or aggressively persecute us.

True, authentic love always sacrifices, repairs, and creates. Mary, who brilliantly radiates the pure light of Christ and is a living monstrance herself, gently helps us to be profoundly humble and poor in spirit so that we too can become a living Eucharistic monstrance for the world.

Fatima: The Ultimate Weapon of the Rosary

Regarding Sister Lucia, according to Fr. Donald Calloway, he states:

"After receiving the Holy Eucharist for the very first time, she knelt and prayed fervently before a beautiful statue of Our Lady of the Rosary, and later testified that the statue actually smiled at her. During the apparitions of Fatima, Mary strongly highlighted the absolute importance of the daily recitation of the rosary. The three children became fierce champions of the rosary and strongly encouraged others to pray with them before every single apparition... After the historic apparitions of Fatima, Our Lady continued intensely instructing Sister Lucia on the massive importance of the holy rosary." (Champions of the Rosary, p. 246)
