Daily Gospel - Readings for july 10, 2020.
Reading for friday.
Hosea 14:2-10.
The Lord says this: Israel, come back to the Lord your God; your iniquity was the cause of your downfall. Provide yourself with words and come back to the Lord. Say to him, "Take all iniquity away so that we may have happiness again and offer you our words of praise. Assyria cannot save us, we will not ride horses any more, or say, "Our God!" to what our own hands have made, for you are the one in whom orphans find compassion." I will heal their disloyalty, I will love them with all my heart, for my anger has turned from them. I will fall like dew on Israel. He shall bloom like the lily, and thrust out roots like the poplar, his shoots will spread far; he will have the beauty of the olive and the fragrance of Lebanon. They will come back to live in my shade; they will grow corn that flourishes, they will cultivate vines as renowned as the wine of Helbon. What has Ephraim to do with idols any more when it is I who hear his prayer and care for him? I am like a cypress ever green, all your fruitfulness comes from me. Let the wise man understand these words. Let the intelligent man grasp their meaning. For the ways of the Lord are straight, and virtuous men walk in them, but sinners stumble.
Daily Psalm for friday.
Psalm 50(51):3-4,8-9,12-14,17
"My mouth shall declare your praise." (R).
Have mercy on me, God, in your kindness. In your compassion blot out my offence. O wash me more and more from my guilt and cleanse me from my sin. (R).
Indeed you love truth in the heart; then in the secret of my heart teach me wisdom. O purify me, then I shall be clean; O wash me, I shall be whiter than snow. (R).
A pure heart create for me, O God, put a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence, nor deprive me of your holy spirit. (R).
Give me again the joy of your help; with a spirit of fervour sustain me, O Lord, open my lips and my mouth shall declare your praise. (R).
Daily Gospel Acclamation.
"Alleluia, alleluia! When the Spirit of truth comes he will lead you to the complete truth, and he will remind you of all I have said to you. Alleluia!" (Cfr. Jn16:13,14:26)
Daily Gospel for july 10. Matthew 10:16-23.
#dailygospel Daily Gospel reading for friday, july 10 (The election and mission of the twelve Apostles): "At that time, Jesus instructed the Twelve as follows: "Remember, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; so be cunning as serpents and yet as harmless as doves. "Beware of men: they will hand you over to sanhedrins and scourge you in their synagogues. You will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the pagans. But when they hand you over, do not worry about how to speak or what to say; what you are to say will be given to you when the time comes; because it is not you who will be speaking; the Spirit of your Father will be speaking in you. "Brother will betray brother to death, and the father his child; children will rise against their parents and have them put to death. You will be hated by all men on account of my name; but the man who stands firm to the end will be saved. If they persecute you in one town, take refuge in the next; and if they persecute you in that, take refuge in another. I tell you solemnly, you will not have gone the round of the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes."".
Daily Gospel reflection by Pope Francis.
In the reading of the daily Gospel, there are some words that are for all of us: "You will be hated": Jesus says, among other things:
"You will be hated by all because of my name, but the one who endures to the end will be saved" (Mt 10:22).
These words of the Lord, make us understand that in the trials accepted because of faith, violence is defeated by love, death by life.
Witnessing to Jesus in humility, in silent service, without fear of going against the tide and paying in person. And if not everyone is called, like St. Stephen, to shed his own blood, every Christian is nevertheless asked to be consistent, in every circumstance, with the faith he professes.
Coherence: This is Christian coherence, it is a grace that we should ask our Lord for: to be coherent, to live as Christians. And not say I am a Christian and live like a pagan. Coherence is a grace that we must ask for today.
To follow the Gospel is certainly a demanding path, but it is beautiful, very beautiful. Those who follow it with fidelity and courage receive the gift promised by the Lord to men and women of good will?
Peace: This God-given peace is capable of appeasing the conscience of all those who, through the trials of life, know how to accept the Word of God and commit themselves to observe it with perseverance to the end.
Today, brothers and sisters, let us pray in particular for all those who are discriminated against, persecuted and killed because of their witness to Christ. Let us also pray that, thanks to the sacrifice of these martyrs of today, who are so many, so many, the commitment to recognize and concretely ensure religious freedom, which is an inalienable right of every human person, may be strengthened throughout the world. (Daily Gospel reflection. Angelus. December 26, 2014)
Daily Gospel Prayer.
My Lord and my God, thank you for granting me the gift of your Presence in my life. You are my King and my everything. You know every one of my weaknesses and shortcomings, and You know the way I must struggle to overcome myself to be a better disciple of Your love. Protect me in the dangers of daily life. Protect me from those who want to see my purposes of giving faith and love to those who need it most cut short. With your help I can do everything. I place myself in your hands. Grant me the strength to persevere in the midst of difficulties. I trust in You, Lord. I know that whatever trials, sufferings or failures I may undergo, You will raise me up with power and with more strength. In the name of Christ, I beg you. Amen.
The Pope´s daily quotation.
"Faith is either missionary, or it is not faith. Faith always leads you out of yourself. Faith must be transmitted; not to convince, but to offer a treasure. Let us ask the Lord to help us live our faith in this way: a faith of open doors, a transparent faith.". (Pope Francis, 07.9.2020)
Daily porpose.
I will pray a mystery of the Holy Rosary asking for the repentance of people who offend God (I also count myself) End by professing the faith with the Nicene Creed.
