Daily Gospel - Readings for july 7, 2020.
Reading for tuesday.
Hosea 8:4-7,11-13.
Thus says the Lord: They have set up kings, but not with my consent, and appointed princes, but without my knowledge. Out of their own silver and gold they have made idols, which are doomed to destruction. I spurn your calf, Samaria, my anger blazes against it. (How long will it be before they purge themselves of this, the sons of Israel?) A workman made the thing, this cannot be God! Yes, the calf of Samaria shall go up in flames. They sow the wind, they will reap the whirlwind; their wheat will yield no ear, the ear will yield no flour, or, if it does, foreigners will swallow it. Ephraim has built altar after altar, they have only served him as occasion for sin. Were I to write out the thousand precepts of my Law for him, they would be paid no more attention than those of a stranger. They love sacrificing; right, let them sacrifice! They love meat; right, let them eat it! The Lord takes no pleasure in these. He is now going to remember their iniquity and punish their sins; they will have to go back to Egypt
Daily Psalm for tuesday.
Psalm 113B(115):3-10
"Sons of Israel, trust in the Lord." (R).
Our God, he is in the heavens; he does whatever he wills. The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of human hands. Sons of Israel, trust in the Lord. (R).
They have mouths but they cannot speak; they have eyes but they cannot see; they have ears but they cannot hear; they have nostrils but they cannot smell. (R).
With their hands they cannot feel; with their feet they cannot walk. Their makers will come to be like them and so will all who trust in them. (R).
Sons of Israel, trust in the Lord; he is their help and their shield. Sons of Aaron, trust in the Lord; he is their help and their shield. (R).
Daily Gospel Acclamation.
Alleluia, alleluia! I am the good shepherd, says the Lord; I know my own sheep and my own know me. Alleluia!" (Cfr. Jn 10:14)
Daily Gospel for july 7. Matthew 9,32-38.
#dailygospel Daily Gospel reading for tuesday, July 7 (The Healing of a Dumb Man and the Compassion of Jesus): "At that time, as soon as the blind men left, they brought to Jesus a dumb man who was possessed with a demon. The demon was cast out and the mute began to speak. The crowd was amazed and commented, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel". But the Pharisees said, "He casts out demons by the work of the Prince of the demons". Jesus went about all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom and curing all sicknesses and diseases. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were weary and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray the owner of the fields to send out laborers for his harvest".
Daily Gospel reflection by Pope Francis.
In the whole Church it is the time of mercy. What does mercy mean for priests? Mercy: neither long sleeves nor rigidity. The time of mercy was an intuition of St. John Paul II, who beatified and canonized Sister Faustina Kowalska and introduced the feast of Divine Mercy.
In the face of the painful experiences that will not be lacking, even alongside new progress, "the light of Divine Mercy, which the Lord has almost wanted to give back to the world through the charism of Sister Faustina, will illuminate the path of the men of the third millennium", let us not forget.
Today we forget everything too quickly, even the Church´s Magisterium! In part it is inevitable, but we cannot forget the great contents, intuitions and slogans left to the People of God. And that of the Divine Mercy is one of them.
It is up to us, as ministers of the Church, to keep this message alive, above all in our preaching and gestures, in our signs, in our pastoral choices. For example, the option of giving priority again to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and at the same time, to the works of mercy.
In the reading of the daily Gospel, we observe that Jesus has the entrails of God. He is full of tenderness towards people, especially towards the excluded, the sinners, the sick whom no one cares for.
Aseptic and laboratory priests do not help the Church. The Church, which is like a field hospital, must heal the wounds.
There are so many people wounded, by material problems, by scandals, also in the Church. People wounded by illusions of the world.
Neither laxity nor rigorism make holiness grow. Whereas mercy accompanies the path to holiness and does so through pastoral suffering, which is a form of mercy. It means to suffer for and with people, as a father and mother suffer for their children. (Daily Gospel reflection. Angelus, 6 March 2014)
The Pope´s daily quotation.
"Faith makes us walk with Jesus along the paths of this world in the certainty that the power of his Spirit will bend the forces of evil, submitting them to the power of God´s love. (Pope Francis, 7.6.2020)
Daily porpose.
Following the example of the Virgin Mary, who kept her faith in the midst of pain and suffering, today I will serve all my loved ones with joy and humility, trusting that God will provide. Say a prayer for faith and trust in God at this time.
