Daily Gospel - Readings for august 8, 2020, saturday. Pope Reflection.

Daily Gospel - Readings for august 8, 2020.

Daily prayer for august 8.

God of love, thank you for allowing me to live all the things that have happened to me, both the good and the not so good. I entrust the good ones to you so that I can continue to bear fruit. The not so good ones I thank You because through them You strengthen my faith and my spirit. Thank you for showing me your face. Guide me and give me new opportunities to grow and love as You love me. So be it.

Reading for saturday. Daily gospel

Habakkuk 1:12-2:4.

Are not you, from ancient times the Lord, my God, my Holy One, who never dies? O Lord, you have made this people an instrument of justice, set it firm as a rock in order to punish. Your eyes are too pure to rest on wickedness, you cannot look on at tyranny. Why do you look on while men are treacherous, and stay silent while the evil man swallows a better man than he? You treat mankind like fishes in the sea, like creeping, masterless things. A people, these, who catch all on their hook, who draw them with their net, in their dragnet gather them, and so, triumphantly, rejoice. At this, they offer a sacrifice to their net, and burn incense to their dragnet, for providing them with luxury and lavish food. Are they then to empty their net unceasingly, slaughtering nations without pity? I will stand on my watchtower, and take up my post on my battlements, watching to see what he will say to me, what answer he will make to my complaints. Then the Lord answered and said, "Write the vision down, inscribe it on tablets to be easily read, since this vision is for its own time only": eager for its own fulfilment, it does not deceive; if it comes slowly, wait, for come it will, without fail. "See how he flags, he whose soul is not at rights, but the upright man will live by his faithfulness."

Daily Psalm for saturday.

Psalm 9A(9):8-13.

"You will never forsake those who seek you, O Lord." (R).

The Lord sits enthroned for ever. He has set up his throne for judgement; he will judge the world with justice, he will judge the peoples with his truth. (R).

For the oppressed let the Lord be a stronghold, a stronghold in times of distress. Those who know your name will trust you; you will never forsake those who seek you. (R).

Sing psalms to the Lord who dwells in Zion. Proclaim his mighty works among the peoples, for the Avenger of blood has remembered them, has not forgotten the cry of the poor. (R).

Daily Gospel Acclamation.

"Alleluia, alleluia! Our Saviour Jesus Christ abolished death  and he has proclaimed life through the Good News. Alleluia!" (Cfr. 2 Tim 1:10)

Daily Gospel for august 8. Matthew 17:14-20.

Daily Gospel reading for saturday, august 8 (The healing of an epileptic demon): "At that time, A man came up to Jesus and went down on his knees before him. "Lord," he said "take pity on my son: he is a lunatic and in a wretched state; he is always falling into the fire or into the water. I took him to your disciples and they were unable to cure him." "Faithless and perverse generation!" Jesus said in reply "How much longer must I be with you? How much longer must I put up with you? Bring him here to me." And when Jesus rebuked it the devil came out of the boy who was cured from that moment.
Then the disciples came privately to Jesus. "Why were we unable to cast it out?" they asked. He answered, "Because you have little faith. I tell you solemnly, if your faith were the size of a mustard seed you could say to this mountain, "Move from here to there," and it would move; nothing would be impossible for you."".

Daily Gospel reflection by Pope Francis.

"A faith so strong and capable of moving mountains in prayer".

In the reading of the daily Gospel, we see that, the Lord, what does he answer us? He answers: "If they had faith as a mustard seed, they would have said to this sycamore tree, "Rip out and plant yourself in the sea," and it would have obeyed them.

The mustard seed is very small, but Jesus says that it is enough to have such faith, small but true, sincere, to do humanly impossible, unthinkable things. And it is true. We all know simple, humble people, but with strength and faith, a very strong faith, who truly move mountains.

Let us think, for example, of so many mothers and fathers who face very heavy situations; or of certain sick people, even very serious ones, who transmit serenity to those who visit them. These people, precisely because of their faith, do not boast about what they do, indeed, as Jesus asks in the Gospel, they say:

"We are useless servants; we have done what we ought to have done" (Lk 17:10)

How many people among us have this strong, humble faith that does so much good. (...) Each of us, in our own daily lives, can bear witness to Christ, with the strength of God, with the strength of faith. With the very small faith that we have, but which is strong, with that strength to bear witness to Jesus Christ, to be Christians with our lives. With our testimony!

And how do we take this strength? We take it from God in prayer. Prayer is the breath of faith: in a relationship of trust, of love, dialogue cannot be lacking, and prayer is the dialogue of the soul with God. (Daily Gospel reflection, Angelus, October 6, 2013)

Daily Gospel Prayer for august 8.

Lord God, I want to live an open faith from the heart, that burns with desire for You and is able to calm storms and change difficult situations into opportunities. Remove from my heart all doubt and fear that will not allow me to find You in the midst of the circumstances I live in every day. I open my heart to You so that Your Holy Spirit may come and dwell in it, purifying and healing all pain, frustration, despair and fear. O my God, You know best what I need. Bless me so that my faith may be firm and alive, given in love to You and to others. Amen. (Healing with prayer daily gospel)

The Pope´s daily quotation.

"We must take care of the earth so that it continues to be, as God wishes, a source of life for the whole human family" (Pope Francis)

Daily porpose.

I will make a special effort in my conversations to not only avoid speaking ill of others, but to highlight their qualities. To avoid speaking ill of others at all times.
