Reading for saturday. Daily gospel
Micah 2:1-5.
Woe to those who meditate on evil, who plot iniquities in their beds; at the dawn they fulfill them, because they have the power! They covet fields and steal them, houses and take possession of them; they oppress man and his house, man and his possessions. That is why the Lord says, "Look, I am thinking of a misfortune against that family. You will not be able to turn away your neck from it, you will not be able to walk upright, because it will be a calamitous time. On that day they will sing a satire against you, they will sing an elegy: "They have destroyed us, they are selling the inheritance of my people; no one prevented it, they are distributing our land to strangers." No one draws lots for you in the assembly of the Lord.
Daily Psalm for saturday.
Psalm 9B(10):1-4,7-8,14
"Lord, do not forget the poor." (R).
Lord, why do you stand afar off and hide yourself in times of distress? The poor man is devoured by the pride of the wicked: he is caught in the schemes that others have made. (R).
For the wicked man boasts of his hearts desires; the covetous blasphemes and spurns the Lord. In his pride the wicked says: He will not punish. There is no God. Such are his thoughts. (R).
His mouth is full of cursing, guile, oppression, mischief and deceit under his tongue. He lies in wait among the reeds; the innocent he murders in secret. (R).
His eyes are on the watch for the helpless man. But you have seen the trouble and sorrow, you note it, you take it in hand. The helpless trusts himself to you; for you are the helper of the orphan. (R).
Daily Gospel Acclamation.
"Alleluia, alleluia! God in Christ was reconciling the world to himself, and he has entrusted to us the news that they are reconciled. Alleluia!" (Cfr. 2 Co 5:19)
Daily Gospel for july 18. Matthew 12:14-21.
Daily Gospel reading for saturday, july 18 (The Spirit of God will be upon him): "At that time, the Pharisees went out and began to plot against Jesus, discussing how to destroy him. Jesus knew this and withdrew from the district. Many followed him and he cured them all, but warned them not to make him known. This was to fulfil the prophecy of Isaiah: "Here is my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved, the favourite of my soul. I will endow him with my spirit, and he will proclaim the true faith to the nations. He will not brawl or shout, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets. He will not break the crushed reed, nor put out the smouldering wick till he has led the truth to victory: in his name the nations will put their hope"".
Daily Gospel reflection by Pope Francis.
"It´s very easy to condemn others, but this is not Christian."
It is sad the pastor who opens the door of the Church and stays there to wait. It is sad the Christian who does not feel within, in his heart, the need to go and tell others that the Lord is good.
In the reading of the daily Gospel, we see how much perversion there is in the hearts of those who think they are righteous, like these scribes, these Pharisees. They do not want to get their hands dirty with sinners. Let us remember that, what they thought: "If this man were a prophet, he would know that this woman is a sinner"... The contempt. They used the people and then despised them.
To be a halfway shepherd is a defeat. A pastor must have God´s heart, go to the limit because he doesn´t want anyone to get lost.
The true shepherd, the true Christian has this zeal within him: that no one should be lost. And that is why they are not afraid to get their hands dirty. They are not afraid. He goes where he must go. He risks his life, he risks his fame, he risks losing his comfort, his status, he risks losing his church career, but he is a good pastor.
Christians must also be like that. It is so easy to condemn others, as these did, the publicans, the sinners, it is so easy, but it is not Christian, it is not of God´s children. The Son of God goes to the limit, he gives his life, as Jesus gave it for others.
He cannot be calm, taking care of himself: his comfort, his fame, his tranquility. Remember this: shepherds in the middle of the road, no, never. Christians halfway, never. That is what Jesus has done.
[...] These scribes, Pharisees, did not know, they did not know what it was to carry the sheep on their backs, with that tenderness, and carry it back with the others to its place. These people do not know what joy is.
The Christian and the shepherd in the middle of their journey perhaps know fun, tranquillity, a certain peace, but joy? that joy that is in Paradise, that joy that comes from God, that joy that comes precisely from the heart of a father who is going to save?
Do not be afraid that we will be spoken of badly for going to meet brothers and sisters who are far from the Lord. Let us ask for this grace for each one of us and for our Mother, the Holy Church. (Daily Gospel reflection. Saint Martha, November 7, 2014)
Daily Gospel Prayer.
Lord Jesús, i want to build my life on your love, let nothing separate me from You. No matter how much I walk over dark valleys, I will continue with confidence sustained by your power. I trust in You, I trust in Your love that sustains me, I trust that You help me and give me Your blessing in all the moments of my life. I love You. Amen. (Healing with prayer daily gospel)
The Pope´s daily quotation.
"May the Lord open our hearts to the needs of the poor, the defenseless, of those who knock on our door seeking recognition of their dignity as persons. (Pope Francis, 08.22.2019)
Daily porpose.
Today I am going to reflect on how I can live more devotedly in service, and how I can do to understand and love God more, loving ungrateful people with greater mercy.
