Reading for friday. Daily gospel
Jeremiah 3:14-17.
Come back, disloyal children, it is the Lord who speaks, for I alone am your Master. I will take one from a town, two from a clan, and bring you to Zion. I will give you shepherds after my own heart, and these shall feed you on knowledge and discretion. And when you have increased and become many in the land, then, it is the Lord who speaks, no one will ever say again: Where is the ark of the covenant of the Lord? There will be no thought of it, no memory of it, no regret for it, no making of another. When that time comes, Jerusalem shall be called: The Throne of the Lord; all the nations will gather there in the name of the Lord and will no longer follow the dictates of their own stubborn hearts.
Daily Psalm for friday.
Jeremiah 31:10-13.
"The Lord will guard us as a shepherd guards his flock." (R).
O nations, hear the word of the Lord, proclaim it to the far-off coasts. Say: "He who scattered Israel will gather him and guard him as a shepherd guards his flock." (R).
For the Lord has ransomed Jacob, has saved him from an overpowering hand. They will come and shout for joy on Mount Zion, they will stream to the blessings of the Lord. (R).
Then the young girls will rejoice and dance, the men, young and old, will be glad. I will turn their mourning into joy, I will console them, give gladness for grief. (R).
Daily Gospel Acclamation.
"Alleluia, alleluia! Blessed are those who, with a noble and generous heart, take the word of God to themselves and yield a harvest through their perseverance. Alleluia!" (Cfr. Luke 8:15)
Daily Gospel for july 24. Matthew 13:18-23.
Daily Gospel reading for friday, july 24 (Welcoming the seed as fertile ground): "At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: "You are to hear the parable of the sower. When anyone hears the word of the kingdom without understanding, the evil one comes and carries off what was sown in his heart: this is the man who received the seed on the edge of the path. The one who received it on patches of rock is the man who hears the word and welcomes it at once with joy. But he has no root in him, he does not last; let some trial come, or some persecution on account of the word, and he falls away at once. The one who received the seed in thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this world and the lure of riches choke the word and so he produces nothing. And the one who received the seed in rich soil is the man who hears the word and understands it; he is the one who yields a harvest and produces now a hundredfold, now sixty, now thirty.".
Daily Gospel reflection by Pope Francis.
"Heal the ground of your heart with confession and prayer."
In the reading of the daily Gospel, (Mt 13:10-17),Jesus is the Sower, and with this image he gives us to understand that he does not impose himself, but proposes: he does not attract us by conquering us, but by giving himself. He sows the seed.
He pours out his Word with patience and generosity. A Word that is not a cage or a trap, but a seed that can bear fruit, provided we are ready to receive it.
[...] Good soil is the way to go. However, there are two other kinds of soil that can grow in our hearts, preventing the seed of Jesus from bearing fruit: stony soil, in which the seed sprouts but does not take deep root, and thorny soil, full of thorns that suffocate good plants, thorns that we can compare to the worries of the world and the lure of wealth.
Each one of us can recognize these big or small thorns that live in his heart, these more or less rooted bushes that do not please God and prevent us from having a clean heart.
It is possible to heal the ground of our heart, presenting to the Lord through confession and prayer, our stones and thorns. Let us ask ourselves if our heart is open to receive with faith the seed of the Word of God. Let us ask ourselves if in us the stones of laziness are still many and great; let us identify and call by name the thorns of vice.
May the Mother of God, whom we remember today under the title of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel, who is unsurpassed in her acceptance of the Word of God and in her implementation, help us to purify our hearts and to guard in them the presence of the Lord (Daily Gospel reflection. Angelus, Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, July 16, 2017).
Daily Gospel Prayer.
Lord Jesus,Take me by the hand, don´t let go of me, don´t let me fall on stony paths that suffocate my soul with useless and worthless worries. O my God, help me to be strong enough not to let myself be influenced by the dark forces that steal my happiness and want to bring down my heart. I wish to be a happy person and for that I must respond faithfully to your call and let myself be enabled by the inspirations of your Holy Spirit. (Healing with prayer daily gospel)
The Pope´s daily quotation.
"St. Paul asks us to pray "for all who are in power" (1 Tim 2:2). We must learn to do so, even for politicians who do not support our ideas. The Christian should pray for all those in power, so that they work for the common good". (Pope Francis, 9.16.2019)
Daily porpose.
Pray 15 minutes of healing prayer for the terminally ill who have no one to care for them in hospitals.
