Daily Gospel for December 7. Luke 5:17-26.
Daily readings Monday, Gospel for December 7 (The Healing of a Paralytic): At that time, Jesus was teaching one day, and among the audience there were Pharisees and doctors of the Law who had come from every village in Galilee, from Judaea and from Jerusalem. And the Power of the Lord was behind his works of healing. Then some men appeared, carrying on a bed a paralysed man whom they were trying to bring in and lay down in front of him. But as the crowd made it impossible to find a way of getting him in, they went up on to the flat roof and lowered him and his stretcher down through the tiles into the middle of the gathering, in front of Jesus. Seeing their faith he said, "My friend, your sins are forgiven you." The scribes and the Pharisees began to think this over. "Who is this man talking blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?" But Jesus, aware of their thoughts, made them this reply, "What are these thoughts you have in your hearts? Which of these is easier: to say, Your sins are forgiven you, or to say, "Get up and walk"? But to prove to you that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,", he said to the paralysed man. "I order you: get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home." And immediately before their very eyes he got up, picked up what he had been lying on and went home praising God. They were all astounded and praised God, and were filled with awe, saying, "We have seen strange things today.". Daily Readings reflection, by Pope Francis.
"Pope Francis: God forgives everything. If you go repentant, he forgives you everything"
From daily Reading we can say, first, that God always forgives. He does not tire of forgiving. We are the ones who get tired of asking for forgiveness. But He does not tire of forgiving.
When Peter asks Jesus: How many times must I forgive? Seven times? Not seven times: seventy times seven. That is always. This is how God forgives: always. And if you have lived a life of so many sins, of so many ugly things, but in the end, a little repentant, you ask for forgiveness, He forgives you immediately. He forgives always.
However, the doubt that could arise in the human heart is in how much God is willing to forgive. And it is enough to repent and ask for forgiveness. Nothing must be paid because Christ has already paid for us.
There is no sin that He does not forgive. He forgives everything. "But, Father, I am not going to confess because I did so many ugly things, so ugly, so many of those things that I will not be forgiven No. It is not true. God forgives everything. If you go repentant, he forgives everything.
When, uh, so many times, he doesn´t let you talk. You begin to ask for forgiveness, and he makes you feel that joy of forgiveness before you have finished saying everything. Besides, when he forgives, God makes a party. And, finally, God forgets. Because what matters to God is to meet with us. (Daily Readings reflection, Santa Marta, January 24, 2015).
Daily Prayer Monday, for Gospel.
Lord, how many times have I felt like I was paralyzed by everything negative that is happening in my life and that does not let me experience your love. Help me to let go of the bed of my vices, to leave behind the pains of this soul full of indifference. Increase faith in me, so that I may continue to grow under your powerful shadow and thus be able to detach myself from everything that keeps me bound. Amen. (Healing with the serenity prayer for daily readings and Holy Gospel)
The Pope´s daily quotation.
"Conversion is a grace that must be asked for strongly from God. We are truly converted to the extent that we open ourselves to the beauty, goodness and tenderness of God. Then let us leave what is false and ephemeral for what is true, beautiful and lasting forever". Pope Francis.
Purpose for daily Gospel.
With the prayer of trust to God, say like the psalmist: When I think I will slip, your mercy, Lord, sustains me.
