Serenity prayer for September 29.

Body and Blood of Christ Jesus, you were lifted up on the Cross to gather us all to receive your merciful and healing action. We thank you for the gift of life and the way in which you give us your strength to live in the midst of this pandemic we are going through. Teach us to take advantage of the gift of your Holy Eucharist to obtain from you that renewal, strength and grace to overcome all obstacles. I trust in your mercy that transforms me and helps me through these difficult circumstances. Amen.

Readings for Wednesday.

Daily readings for gospel - First Reading for daily Gospel: Catholic Reading from the book of Daniel 7:9-10,13-14: "Thousands upon thousands were ministering to him."

As I watched: Thrones were set up and the Ancient One took his throne. His clothing was bright as snow, and the hair on his head as white as wool; His throne was flames of fire, with wheels of burning fire. A surging stream of fire flowed out from where he sat; Thousands upon thousands were ministering to him, and myriads upon myriads attended him. The court was convened, and the books were opened. As the visions during the night continued, I saw One like a son of man coming, on the clouds of heaven; When he reached the Ancient One and was presented before him, He received dominion, glory, and kingship; nations and peoples of every language serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away, his kingship shall not be destroyed.

Daily Psalm for Wednesday.

Responsorial Psalm is taken from the Book of Psalm 137(138):1-2ab, 2cde-3, 4-5: "In the sight of the angels I will sing your praises, Lord." (R).

  • I will give thanks to you, O LORD, with all my heart, for you have heard the words of my mouth; in the presence of the angels I will sing your praise; I will worship at your holy temple and give thanks to your name. (R).
  • Because of your kindness and your truth; for you have made great above all things your name and your promise. When I called, you answered me; you built up strength within me. (R).
  • All the kings of the earth shall give thanks to you, O LORD, when they hear the words of your mouth; And they shall sing of the ways of the LORD: "Great is the glory of the LORD." (R).

Daily Gospel Acclamation.

"Alleluia, alleluia. Bless the LORD, all you angels, you ministers, who do his will. Alleluia, alleluia" (Daily readings for today extracted of Psalm 103:21)

Daily Gospel - John 1:47-51.

Catholic Daily readings for Wednesday, Gospel for September 29 (You will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.): At that time, Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, "Here is a true child of Israel. There is no duplicity in him." Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree." Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel." Jesus answered and said to him, "Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this." And he said to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."

Catholic Daily Readings reflection, by Pope Francis.

"Angels defend us, so the Church honors them.". Pope Francis.

In the daily Readings,

we read "the angels defend us. They defend man and they defend the God-Man, the superior man, Jesus Christ who is the perfection of humanity, the most perfect". For this reason the Church honors the angels, because they are the ones who will be in the glory of God, they are in the glory of God, because they defend the great hidden mystery of God, that is, that the Word has come in the flesh.

The duty of the people of God is to guard in themselves the man, the man Jesus because he is the man who gives life to all men. On the other hand, in his projects of destruction, Satan invents humanistic explanations that go against man, against humanity and against God.

The struggle is a daily reality in Christian life: in our hearts, in our lives, in our families, in our people, in our churches. If we do not fight, we will be defeated. In today´s readings, we see that the Lord has given this task mainly to the angels: to fight and to conquer. And the final song of the Apocalypse, after this struggle, is so beautiful: "Now the salvation, the strength and the Kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ have been accomplished, for the accuser of our brothers, he who accused them before our God day and night, has been hastened away".

Today, he invited them to pray to the Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael and to pray that ancient but beautiful prayer to the Archangel Michael, so that he may continue to fight to defend the greatest mystery of humanity, that the Word became Man, died and rose again. This is our treasure. May he continue to fight to guard it (Daily Readings reflection, Saint Martha, 2014, September 29).

Daily Prayer for the Gospel.

Lord, You know all my ailments, afflictions and sufferings; therefore, I place everything under the mercy of Your love, for You, are my help. Do not let me fall into despair beyond my control. Grant me the assistance of your Holy Angels to bless me. I want to love you with all the strength of my heart. I want to feel your power. I call upon the holy Archangels, Michael, Raphael and Gabriel to help me overcome the temptations and trials that try to break my spirit. I trust you to protect me. Amen. "Christian spirituality proposes sobriety and simplicity that allow us to stop and enjoy the little things and be grateful for the possibilities that life offers without being attached to what we have or saddened by what we do not possess," Pope Francis.
